Naismith was extremely sharp this morning as he had his first work since returning from his layoff at Santa Anita. The 3-year-old colt by Medaglia d’Oro took off the moment he left the quarter pole, going a touch wide into the stretch due to his momentum. Once straightening out, Naismith traveled really well down the stretch.
“Really nice first go around for Naismith. He may have gone a little faster than I really wanted, but he has been eager to do more. He should move right along,” said trainer Richard Mandella.
With rain in the forecast this upcoming week, Mandella will play his next work by ear.
